General Manager: Chris
Smith
Chris is in his sixth year of coaching with the Braves.
Previous coaching experience includes coach at Herndon High School
, one year with the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts, three years
at DeMatha Catholic High School , two years at St, Vincent Pallotti
High School , and one year at Bowie St. University. Chris has been
a part of two Braves championship teams (Clark Griffith League -
'06 and '07) and a Herndon High School district championship team
('02). Chris resides in Herndon with his wife Amy, and two children.
Head Coach: Eric Williams
Eric Williams joins the Herndon Braves after spending the
past 3 seasons as the Head Coach of the Alexandria Aces. Prior to
that, he spent 2 seasons as the Associate Head Coach for the Haymarket
Senators in the Valley Baseball League. Other coaching experience
includes Annandale High School – Varsity Assistant in 96 -97,
Robert E. Lee High School - Varsity Assistant Coach from 2002 through
2007 seasons, helping the Lancers to 3 Regional tournament appearances
as well as a 2004 state semi-final appearance. Thomas Jefferson
High School for Science and Technology – Varsity Assistant
Coach from 2008 to present.
Assistant Coach: Galvin Morris
Galvin is in his third year of coaching with the Braves.
Coach Morris has been the head baseball coach at South Lakes High
School since 2000. He is very active in the Reston Community having
coached football, basketball, and baseball with various age groups.
Assistant Coach: Ian Corso
Ian Corso played professionally in Italy for four years,
playing for four different teams. Prior to Italy, Ian graduated
from California State University-Dominguez Hills. In his two seasons
for the Torros, he batted .341 with 18 home runs, 82 RBIs, 24 doubles
and scored 61 runs. As a senior, he earned all-conference recognition
after batting .330 while launching 13 homers and driving in 54 runs.
In addition to his playing career, Corso has also worked as a coach.
His first stint was at Thousand Oaks High School in the summer of
2000. He also spent one year coaching at CSU-Dominguez Hills following
his playing career and returned to coaching the fall varsity teams
at Thousand Oaks High from 2006-08. Corso graduated from CSU-Dominguez
Hills in May, 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology
and is currently working on his Masters of Arts in Teaching.
Pitching Coach: John Dowling
Coach Dowling is a newcomer to the Braves this year, joining
the coaching staff as the pitching coach for the 2011 season. A
2005 graduate of Ithaca College, John left the Ithaca program ranked
2nd all time in career saves. Since graduating, John has remained
active in baseball, coaching at both the high school level as well
as in various summer collegiate leagues. Last summer, John was the
pitching coach for the Alexandria Aces, also of the Cal Ripken League.
Since moving to Virginia four years ago, John has been the associate
head baseball coach and a teacher at Forest Park High School in
Woodbridge, Virginia.
