Johnny Bladel Named Co-Player of the Week for the Cal Ripken League
Herndon Braves outfielder Johnny Bladel (James Madison/Ashburn, Va.) and Baltimore Redbirds outfielder Seth Baldwin (North Carolina/Forest City, N.C.) have been named the Co-Players of the Week in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League for the week of June 21 through June 27. Bladel collected 12 hits in 32 at-bats for the Braves, including a double, a triple, and a home run. He drove in seven runs and scored eight. Bladel was held hitless in just one of nine games for the week, and even then he reached base on a walk and scored a run. He put together a streak of four consecutive games with two hits each from June 24 to June 27, going 8-for-19 over that stretch. He is still riding a hitting streak of nine games, which began on June 23. The speedy Bladel also stole six bases in seven attempts, including two in one game against the Redbirds on June 22.

Host Families Needed for Summer 2010
We are looking for families who would like to give a college athlete a home experience while they are living away from home for the Summer. Athletes will be arriving the first of June and will be here until late July or the first few days of August. Opening up your home to an athlete is beneficial for you and the athlete. Many longtime bonds are formed with these players and who knows - your athlete might be a MLB player in the future! You can find out more information under the TEAM INFO section.

2008 Braves Member, Mycal Jones DRAFTED by Atlanta Braves
Mycal Jones, a member of the 2008 Braves team, was drafted in the 4th round by the Atlanta Braves. Braves website states, "Ranked as the 143rd best player available, and the 10th-best shortstop, and described as one of the first JuCo players who should be taken -- that fits right up the Braves alley, as they love the JuCo guys. His greatest asset may be his speed, but he'll have to refine his swing to utilize it more on the basepaths, as he has shown good power with an uppercut swing in college. Comparisons to him are that of a Chone Figgins-type middle infielder. It looks like the Braves got good value with this pick, and they added to areas of need in the middle infield and speed categories." Way to go, Mycal!!

2006 Braves Members, Ryan Woolley DRAFTED by Atlanta Braves and Jordan Flasher DRAFTED by Boston Red Sox
Ryan Woolley, a member of the 2006 Braves team, was drafted in the 6th round by the Atlanta Braves. Woolley is currently playing at UAB.

Jordan Flasher
, also a member of the 2006 Braves team, was drafted in the 22nd round by the Boston Red Sox. Woolley is a member of the GMU Patriots.

2004 Braves Member, Jon Link, Drafted by White Sox
Link, 25, was selected in the 26th round of the 2005 draft. He has a 3.87 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 293 minor league innings and posted a 3.99 ERA and 66/27 K/BB at the Triple-A level in 2009. Dodgers acquired RHP Jon Link and RHP John Ely from the White Sox for outfielder Juan Pierre. Link was called up to the Dodgers in April 2010 for several games.
